How to Enter the 2018 Operational Excellence CEO and Outstanding Leader Awards

The Business Transformation & Operational Excellence Awards are open to all organizations, both private and public sector, across the globe, which have implemented Operational Excellence programs to deliver outstanding business results and business transformations.

Key Dates: 

November 10, 2017: Early bird entry deadline

December 1, 2017: All Awards Entries close

January 24, 2018: Awards Shortlist & CEO of the Year Announced

March 14 2018: Awards Ceremony & Winners Announced

 

The Awards will be held in conjunction with the Business Transformation & Operational Excellence World Summit on March 14, 2018 in Orlando, Fl.

Previous CEO of the Year Award Winner

Tom Farrell won the CEO Of the Year Award in 2009 with Dominion Resources. Dominion Resources is  one of the country's biggest utility companies, with greater than $13 billion in revenue, more than 15,000 employees and operations in well over a dozen states. 

Farrell joined Dominion in 1995 and has served as an officer of Dominion and many of its subsidiaries. He was executive vice president of Dominion from 1999 to 2003 and president and chief operating officer from January 2004 to December 2005. In January 2006, Farrell was named president and chief executive officer of Dominion and was elected chairman of Dominion’s board in April 2007.

The Operational Excellence CEO and Outstanding Leader Awards

These Awards will be given to a CEO or Leader who has embraced and championed Operational Excellence methodologies for organizational success. 

There will be two CEO of the Year awards. The guidelines and scoring will be the same for both. 

  • Operational Excellence CEO of the Year Award. (Overall Corporate CEO)
  • Operational Excellence Outstanding Leader of the Year Award

Entry Guidelines & Rules

Main Entry Document

The main entry document must contain a 250-word synopsis at the beginning of the document and be no longer that four pages of A4.

It should outline the following information on the individual’s performance

  • The history of Operational Excellence at the organization
  • The strategic position on Operational Excellence
  • Insight into the CEO’s role within the deployment of Operational Excellence initiatives
  • The CEO’s biography from an Operational Excellence perspective
  • Key Operational Excellence achievements during the CEO’s time in office

Supporting Materials

Entrants may supply supporting materials. These materials must be no longer than two pages of A4 and should only contain sample material.

 

Judging Criteria

The judges will consider the following criteria when grading all entries for this category:

  1. Results Generated: How significant to the organization was the value generated from the Operational Excellence deployment
  2. CEO’s Involvement: The extent and effectiveness of the leadership role provided by the CEO
  3. Penetration of Operational Excellence within the Organization
  4. Strategic Position of Operational Excellence

 

The Scoring Matrix is as follows:

Results Generated

 

Score 1-3 - Results not that impressive

 

Score 4-6 - Results fairly impressive

 

Score 7-10 Results very to exceedingly Impressive

 

 

CEO's Involvement

 

Score 1-3 - No strong evidence of CEO involvement

 

Score 4-6 - Entry shows reasonable level of CEO involvement

 

Score 7-10- Evident that there has been heavy CEO involvement

 

 

Penetration of Operational Excellence

 

Score 1-3  - Operational Excellence has only moderately penetrated the organization

 

Score 4-6 - Operational Excellence has reasonable levels of penetration

 

Score 7-10 - Operational Excellence has deep penetration throughout the organization

 

 

Strategic Position of Operational Excellence

 

Score 1-3 - Operational Excellence does not factor strongly within the organizational strategy

 

Score 4-6 - Operational Excellence plays a reasonable role within organizational strategy

 

Score 7-10 - Operational Excellence has a key role within the organizational strategy
